Why Use A Water Filter?
More people today realize the need to filter their drinking water than ever before.  Over 80 percent of households use some type of water filtration device.

So, why is that?  Public awareness is growing concerning chemicals being detected in our drinking water.   Traces of pharmaceutical and illicit drugs, chemicals used by industry and agriculture, and many other contaminants are commonly found in our water resources.

Bottled water is not the answer.  Most of us realize the purity of bottled water is questionable to say the least.   Plastic water bottles are filling our landfills.   Using a point of use water filter saves our landfills and is a much more environmentally friendly solution.

I live in a rural area west of St Augustine Florida.  The source of my drinking water is the Florida Aquifer.  We have an artesian well, 365 feet deep, which actually draws water directly from the Florida Aquifer.  Our water is run through an extensive purification process using an aerator tank to reduce the sulfur smell, then chlorination to kill any bacteria and a large carbon filter to remove the chlorine from the purified water.  Our drinking water is then filtered by a MultiPure 880 water filter.  We use 4 to 5 gallons of drinking/cooking water a day.  The water looks, tastes, and smells great...

Many people in our area actually believe the water from the Florida Aquifer is millions of years old and absolutely pure.  This is a common misconception.  The truth is, the Florida Aquifer is continually being fed from ground water.  The problem I have with that is the source and purity of the ground water.

The source of the water provided to the Florida Aquifer is ground water from parts of Alabama, Southern South Carolina, all of the state of Georgia, and North Florida.   The source of the ground water is the problem.  Storm runoff, 28 hazardous waste sites in Jacksonville Florida, gas stations, septic tanks, industry, chemicals used on farms, lawns, and golf courses all serve to pollute the ground water, rivers, lakes, streams and the Florida Aquifer.  Is that scary or what?  Now you know why I am so concerned about drinking water and why I am involved in this business.
